FrontPage Express is a basic, free, web page editor that comes with Internet Explorer 4.0 and above. The basic web editing tool can be used to develop and edit personal web pages. To launch Front Page Express, go to Start -> Programs-> Internet Explorer -> Front Page Express, or double click an icon on your desktop.
Your Default Web Page Every user account created with mysaNiTy has a default web page that resides in the directory /www under your home folder. The web page is called default.htm. To open this page for editing, go to File. Select Open and then select the Browse button.
Find the /www directory under your home folder, and select the file default.htm.
When you select default.htm, a page loads up that could use some serious renovating. You will know it by the bright yellow background
Editing Text You have a number of choices here. You can edit pre-existing text, or type in your own new stuff. If you wish to edit existing text, do the following: Block over the text you wish to edit by holding down the left mouse button and dragging it over the text. It should form a black block over the text.
You can change several aspects of the text, like the font, its size or color using the toolbar up top. The following picture will identify some of the things you can do to text or a selected image using options on the toolbar.
If you want to change the content of
the text, just start typing the text you want to appear.
Select the BackGround tab.
From here, you can select the default color for the background, text, hyperlinks, etc. Images You can add, remove or edit an existing image by first clicking on the image to select it. If it has been properly selected, it should have small blocks surrounding it, like in the picture below.
If you hit the Delete key, the image will be removed. If you place your cursor on one of the blocks and drag it, holding down the left mouse button, you can make the image larger or smaller. Use the corner blocks, so that the image will stay in proportion. Or, right click the image and select Image Properties. Then select the Appearance tab.
You can adjust the size by selecting Specify Size and entering numbers for height and width. If you want to add a new image, or change a selected image, go to the top of the tool bar and click Insert. Select Image from the drop down menu.
A dialogue will appear where you can find the image you want to use. Adding Links You can add links to text or pictures in you web page by blocking over text or selecting an image.
Then select the add link option from the toolbar, which looks like and earth with a chain link.
A dialogue will open up, with a text box at the top for you to type in the full address of the link. The text box will already have http:// in it.
You can add links to outside resources, like http:// www.yahoo.com, www.askjeeves.com , www.seti.com, You can add a link to another person's page by typing http:// www.domainname/username. Or, you can make a link to another page in your /www folder. For example, if you create a new page and call it homework.htm and save it in /www, you can make a link to it by typing http://www.domainname/username/homework.htm in the URL text box. Adding a Mail Link Adding a mail link to a picture or text is very similar to adding a regular link to another web page. Just block over the text you wish to add the mail link to, then select the link button on the toolbar. When the dialogue opens, select the World Wide Web tab (if not open automatically).
Go to the box labeled Hyperlink Type. Be sure Mailto is selected. In the URL box, you should have Mailto:username@yourEmail. There should be no spaces.Use any valid email account you wish.
