Here are some considerations to make when deciding
what security options to set for your users.

-
Disable Selections within Control Panel Icons -
For curriculum purposes, you may want classes to be able to access certain
features within control panel selections such as Display Properties, which
include wallpaper, screen savers, and appearance, or other things such as
date/ time, mouse speed for accessibility purposes and because of visual or
motor impairments. MysaNiTy can accommodate this by allowing students access to adjust
Display features without allowing access to “Settings” within Display
properties.
Enable Wall Paper Selection Only- Allows students to
learn how to use the common wall paper function on a workstation without
giving them access to the settings for the display settings.
Enable Appearance Only - Allows students
to learn how to use the common functions on a workstation to change the basic
size, font and clor of the Windows interface, without
giving them access to the settings for the display settings.
-
Hide Selected Drives- A curriculum necessity is
to teach students to manage their files and folders. MysaNiTy allows the
administrator to choose which drives are visible in My Computer for the user
and this normally includes the students home drive (this is mapped to each
users home folder on logon) Showing select drives reduces clutter when opening
up My Computer, making it easier for students to find folders and drives they
do have access to. However, be careful. If you give users access to only
one drive, say, the one mapped to their home folder, you could be limiting
their chance to back up their information to another source.
-
Disable Right Click Context Menu- For those
users with trouble visually accessing a workstation, or with difficulty
remembering a sequence of steps, the context menu makes it much easier to
access certain functions. Take caution in deciding to disable this feature!
-
Hide Workgroup Contents in Network
Neighborhood- MysaNiTy does not give the option to hide the Network
Neighborhood icon because hiding the Network Neighborhood prevents the
workstation from retrieving the MysaNiTy remote desktop for this workgroup.
Instead an administrator can choose to hide the contents displayed if the icon
is opened. Also if the Administrator chooses to allow users to browse the
network using the Network Neighborhood , each user account home folder
created by MysaNiTy has it share hidden which hides it in Network
Neighborhood.
