Configuring a 95/98
Workstation as a Member of a Workgroup

It takes only a few steps to make a Windows 95/98
workstation a member of a workgroup.
From the workstation:
Step 1: Go to the
Network Icon in the Control Panel
Start –> Settings –> Control Panel–> Network Icon
Step 2:
Configuration Tab – Client for Microsoft Networks MUST be installed and
Primary Network Logon MUST be set to Client for Microsoft Networks.

Step 3: Select the Identification and enter the workgroup
name for this computer. (see below)
Step 4: Click OK and
Restart the computer.
Note: Placing a Windows 9x workstation in a workgroup
that is not the name of the domain will cause browsing in Network Neighborhood
to be disabled. To enable browsing in Network Neighborhood for this workgroup,
at least one computer in the workgroup must have Browse Master enabled. On one
workstation in this workgroup, add file and printer sharing to the network icon
in the Control Panel and under this service select Browse Mater = enabled.
